AI MaskHide it, ask, put it back, finish
Use whichever AI you like. Orihako does the before and the after.
- 1. Mask: names, amounts and numbers become placeholders
- 2. Ask the outside AI: copy the masked text and paste it
- 3. Put back: the answer's placeholders become the real names
- 4. Finish: Word, Excel or email

Also looks for names that are not in your list and adds them as suggestions. It can miss some. Words in your list are masked as before.
It is read from orihako.com. The text you pasted is not uploaded to a server.
With "Keep the maths right", totals, shares and year-on-year changes come out right, and Put back gives the real amounts. The rough size can still be guessed. Not for work that needs the amount itself, such as a tax threshold.
"How many days later" stays right, and Put back gives the real dates. Not for work that needs the date itself, such as holidays or month ends.
People and companies get made-up names that read naturally; Put back gives the real names. Suits rewriting, translating and summarising; not for checking facts. Never used for amounts or numbers.
The words next to a value tell its role (client, contact, contract value...), which goes inside the placeholder, so the AI mixes them up less. The role words reach the AI too. Put back gives the original words.
Phone, account, postcode and card numbers, employee and invoice numbers become made-up numbers with the same digits and separators. Suits checking and formatting work. The AI gets made-up numbers; Put back gives the real ones. Never used for amounts.
Chance of a miss:
In the sample, the company and people's names are masked as if they were in your list. For your own text, add the words to the list.
Press a coloured part to see what was written there and choose: mask, don't mask or rename. Select other words to mask them too.

What the AI should call it
Putting back turns it into the original words again.
A rounded amount stays rounded when put back.
Asks the AI built into this browser (it runs on this PC) whether the masked text still points to a company or a person.

Names your list may not have
Added to your words to mask, they are masked in this text at once, and in the next texts too. You can change the kind.

None yet. Add clients, colleagues and project names, and they are masked from then on.
Which AI should open? (Chosen once, it opens next time too.)
The text is never put in the web address. You paste it into the box of the page that opens (Ctrl+V, ⌘+V on a Mac).
One line to give the AI once
Set it in the AI first and putting back works more reliably: put it once in the AI's settings, and answers keep the placeholders.
Words inside 【】 are placeholders. Keep them exactly as they are, without changing them.
- ChatGPT in Custom instructions
- Claude in a project's instructions
- Copilot at the start of the chat (or where it keeps instructions)
- Gemini in a Gem's instructions (or at the start of the chat)
2. Ask the outside AI
Paste the copied text into ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini or another AI and ask. When the answer comes, paste it in step 3 below.
- Masking and the key stay on this PC. What reaches the outside AI is only what you copy or attach.
- Something may be missed. Check the coloured parts before you send.
- Company and people's names are masked from your list (with “Find more names of people and companies”, names not in it are added as suggestions). Phones, emails, addresses and ID numbers are found by their shape.
3. Put back
Which text is this the answer to? Pick one to put the words back.

4. Finish
Even with one press, it stops when a miss may be there, and when the answer has something to check.
In Safari and on iPhone and iPad, steps stay apart on each Orihako site: what you carry on with in another tool is not joined to the steps here.
Mask a file
PDF goes to the PDF tool; Word, PowerPoint and Excel files of text to Translate, which keeps their look; CSV and Excel lists (one table) to Data, which masks them column by column; screenshots and photos of papers to Image, which reads their text and masks it. A text file is read here.
