Orihako PDF
Make the text of a scanned PDF searchable and copyable
The text of a scanned PDF is read on this device (OCR), and you get a PDF you can search and copy from.
Japanese, English and French; the text is also saved as a text file.
The file is never uploaded to a server. The first time, the reading data is downloaded once.
Your file is never uploaded to a server: the tool works in this browser.
How it goes
- 1Drop or choose the scanned PDF (or try a sample)
- 2Pick the document's language (and pages, if needed)
- 3Run, then save the searchable PDF and the text
Good to know
- Reading is not 100% exact: even clean print gets a few characters in a hundred wrong. Handwriting, faint or skewed scans do worse.
- The first run downloads the reading data (a few MB) from this site, once; after that a page takes seconds.
- Up to 200 pages per run; for the rest, pick the pages and run again.
Other problems
- Add bookmarks (a table of contents) to a PDF
- Name invoice PDFs from their contents, and turn them into a ledger
